Floor preparation & tools.
Vinyl flooring can be laid on any type of surface (floorboards, tiles, carpets, old vinyl flooring, etc.).
2 possibilities:
- remove the old flooring (carpet or old vinyl flooring)
- fit the flooring directly on the floor (surface condition permitting)
The surface must be clean, flat, dry and smooth. Fill any holes or cracks with a smoothing compound (and use putty for floorboards).
Before installation:
- make sure that the floor is hard, flat, dry and smooth
- clean the surface:
- remove dust and clean the floor with water containing a mild detergent
- remove any traces of plaster, paint or greasy substances, etc.
- level the surface (if necessary)
