INSTALLATION OF SHEETS

3 types of installation are possible:

  • using adhesive

  • semi-loose laying (with adhesive tape)

  • loose laying (without adhesive)

Loose laying is the easiest technique and is suitable for small to medium sized rooms which are not major thoroughfares in the home.
For larger rooms or regularly-used rooms, use adhesive or the semi-loose laying technique.

In all cases:

  • never fold the sheets when transporting them
  • leave the sheets and adhesive (if used) in the room where they will be installed for approximately 24 hours before installation
  • recommended room temperature 15°C - minimum floor temperature 10°C
  • after installation, leave the room empty for 48 hours (to allow the flooring to settle).

Using adhesive.

Unroll the sheet in the room, allowing an extra 5cm to cover the skirting boards (FIG 1).
Flatten the sheet, pressing from the centre out towards the edges.

Fold back half of the sheet (FIG 2) and apply the adhesive to the floor using a notched spatula (FIG 3). Then lay the sheet back down, pressing down firmly from the centre out towards the walls.

Repeat this procedure for the other half of the sheet.
Level out the edges using a Stanley knife and metal ruler.
To make a perfect joint (before sticking to the floor) place one sheet on top of the other allowing an overlap of 5cm, and cut the sheets using a ruler and Stanley knife.
Cold-weld the joints 24 hours after installation.

Semi-loose laying.

This is done using double-sided adhesive tape. Apply the tape to the floor under any joints and all around the edge of the room (up against the skirting boards) as this will hold the sheets in place.

Nota Bene:

  • lay the sheets in opposite directions for a contrasting effect
  • lay the sheets in the same direction for a parquet or tile effect

Loose laying.

Follow the same procedure as the semi-loose laying method but do not apply any adhesive tape.
Only use this method for thick and heavy flooring.

Installation of Texline (textile backed rolls).

Can be laid directly on top of old parquet, tiles, short-pile carpets, etc...

There is no need to prepare the floor prior to installation even if it is uneven (floors with bumps of up to 1mm, openings of up to 5mm between tiles and 3mm between wooden strips).

Semi-loose laying on self-adhesive hook strips.
Simply stick the hook strips approx. 1 to 3cm away from the walls all around the edge of the room and under any joints.
